Proposal Writing

I have been able to write several proposals, some of them with real stakes, and some of them for practice.

Landscape Development Faux Proposal 1

For this proposal, I collaborated with a team of several other of my peers to construct this practice proposal. The proposal outlines plans for expansions within the Rock Creek park, and how the planned renovations could benefit the surrounding area, and the city. Though the scenario is fabricated, all the research performed is real, save it be for the job costing, which was not the focus of the exercise.

Sexual Consent Zine Proposal

For this proposal, we were paired with Utah State University’s SAAVI department, to help them construct an informative zine about sexual consent. This proposal outlines everything we could identify about the project, its cost, the risks, deliverables, etc. The proposal was accepted, and we were able to follow through on our goals and deliver the zine by our due date. You can view the final product on it’s own webpage here.

Landscape Development Faux Proposal 2

This faux proposal nearly identically to faux proposal 1. Was teamed up with several peers (different from faux proposal 1), and we developed this over the course of a week, which describes how a fictional landscaping company would use their resources to develop some land around a library.

Radio Theater Club Propsal

In 2018, I joined USU’s Aggie Radio Theater Club. Though a niche club, it had a lot of members, and I found myself enjoying the atmosphere and the camaraderie I felt with my peers who liked to create niche things just like me. Fast forward just one semester from that fall to spring 2019, the club suddenly ceased to exist. A lot of the most determined students, who also happened to be in leadership the previous semester, graduated. The current leadership was supposed to be organizing activity and events, but they decided they had other important things to do. With the last remaining 5 or so members, I created this proposal as a way to fight for what was left of the club. I proposed, with support from the remaining active members, that the structure of the club changes. As it stood, we had no meaningful contact with the school and had no access to the schools resources, even though we had them the semester before under proper management. My proposal was supposed to resolve that issue, and ensure that individuals who also loved my niche hobby always had somewhere to go, and always had resources from the college at their disposal. While my proposal was rejected, It caused enough of a riff for the overarching Radio Club to swoop in and merge our club with the podcast club, and put me into the vice president position. As far as I understand it, the club still operates with the Radio club to this day, and has had shows broadcasted on live radio, including one I helped create called Vanishing Point.
